Rev. Ed Hoekstra was born to dutch immigrants in Belleville, Ontario. Ed is the 5th of 6 children. Ed and Jackie were married in 1983 in Brampton, Ontario. They met in the church youth group. They have 5 children and 4 grandchildren and another on the way.

Ed has served St. Andrew's Presbyterian church in Coldwater, Ontario for three years as a student minister from 1996-1999, and an additional 9 years in the congregation after he was ordained.

In 2008 Ed, Jackie and the family accepted a call to mission work in Malawi with International Ministries of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. The Hoekstras served there for three years experiencing "The Warm Heart of Africa."

On return to Canada in 2011, Ed accepted a call to Oakridge Presbyterian Church in London, Ontario. Ed served the Oakridge congregation for over 9 years.

In the fall of 2020, Rev. Ed accepted a call to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Owen Sound, Ontario. Ed and Jackie feel God's hand leading and guiding toward this new calling with our new church family in Owen Sound.

Ed enjoys ministry and believes the church has a key role in being a beacon of hope in bringing healing to the community and the world as a witness to the love of Jesus Christ.

Ed enjoys spending time with Jackie, the children and grandchildren as they talk, hike, camp, ski and enjoy God's creation. Farming is another interest Ed and Jackie have. My grandchildren often joke that a cow is pake's (grandfather in Friesian) favourite animal.
